Redmond, Shirley Raye

Shirley Raye Redmond grew up on the island of Okinawa, Japan. After earning a master’s degree in literature from the University of Illinois, Springfield, she settled in New Mexico, where she worked for many years as a teacher. Shirley Raye is the author of numerous nonfiction books for children, including the award-winning Pigeon Hero! (Simon & Schuster, 2003). She currently lives in Los Alamos with her husband, Bill, and a rambunctious Scottie named Duncan.
