The USS New York (BB-34) was launched in 1914. She saw action during WWI in the North Sea. In WWII she served as an escort for ships to Great Britain in the first part of the war. After seeing action near Casablanca, she was moved to the Pacific where she provided support for the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
