Reed Lewis grew up in Northern Idaho. He started collecting rocks and minerals when he was ten and has yet to stop. Fortunately, he was able to turn this passion into a profession, with jobs with the US Geological Survey, the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology, and the Idaho Geological Survey. Wile some of the work has been in Saudi Arabia and western Montana, the summer of 2020 will be the fortieth field season spent in the hills and mountains of Idaho. Reed lives in Moscow with his wife, Karen, and is a Research Geologist with the Idaho Geological Survey. He has authored or coauthored over 100 geologic maps and continues to piece together the complex geologic history of the state.
