Since its beginning in 1972, the popular Roadside Geology series has grown to include twenty-four titles. The goal of the series is to provide scientific information in an engaging and accessible way for anyone interested in learning more about the geology of an area.
Professional geologists write and edit the Roadside Geology books for people who are not geologists but would like to learn something about the rocks and landforms around them. Each book begins with an introductory chapter that briefly reviews the rocks and landscapes of its state. The following chapters provide a detailed discussion of the state's regions and end with a series of road guides.
All Roadside Geology books are in a paperback, six-by-nine format and include maps, photographs, and illustrations.
